Nouns Plural in use but Singular in form

কিছু কিছু Plural noun আছে যেগুলিকে Singular noun –এর মতো দেখতে। কিন্তু সবসময় Plural noun হিসাবে ব্যবহার হয়।
1.      Group of animal (collective noun).
(Cattle, Cavalry, poultry, swine, herd, etc)
·        The cattle are grazing in the field.
·        The swine are dirty animals.
·        Our cavalry are very strong.
·        Our poultries are healthy.

2.      Group of people (collective noun) যখন তারা আলাদা কাজ করবে বা আলাদা মতামত দেবে,তখন Plural noun হিসাবে ব্যবহার  হবে।
(police, jury, folk, peasantry, staff, public, government, Intelligentsia, crew, gentry, troop, company, class, team,committee, etc)
·        All the people were happy.
·        The peasantry are very happy.
·        The police have taken actions.
·        The committee are meetings tomorrow.
·        The crowd were impatient.

Note: যখন Group of people একি কাজ করবে বা একি মতামত দেবে (কাজের মধ্যে একতা থাকলে), তখন singular noun হিসাবে ব্যবহার  হবে।
Example:
·        The jury was divided in their opinion. (X)
                  The jury were divided in their opinion.

3.       A few adjective of nationality ending in –sh and –ch are used after the are Plural with no Singular forms. (The British, The Dutch, The English, The French, The Spanish, The Irish, The Welsh etc)
4.      Dozen, hundred, thousand, million, billion, foot(=12 inches), kilogram have plurals without –s when these word used after definite number. (যখন dozen, hundred, thousand etc নিশ্চিত সংখ্যার পরে বসে তখন এদের সঙ্গে –s যুক্ত হয় না। কিন্তু Plural noun হিসাবে ব্যবহার হয়।
·        There are three thousand workers in our company.
·        This is our six year plans.
